This is a native iOS user interface application for openHAB - an open source home automation system. The open Home Automation Bus (openHAB) project aims at providing a universal integration platform for all things around home automation. It is designed to be absolutely vendor-neutral as well as hardware/protocol-agnostic. openHAB brings together different bus systems, hardware devices and interface protocols. Supported technologies include KNX, Modbus, DMX, Philips Hue, PLCBus, Sonos, Plugwise, IHC/Elko, RFXCOM, Homematic, Koubachi, Pulseaudio, Samsung TV, Bluetooth, One-Wire, Novelan, Asterisk, generic serial devices and many others. It supports all openHAB features plus automatic discovery of your openHAB and remote connection back to your house over the Internet with my.openHAB service. openHAB is the integration and control point of your Smart Home. You will find openHAB at http://www.openhab.org/

Pros and cons of openHAB app for iPhone and iPad

openHAB app good for

Thank you very much for this great app, it worked immediately for my openhanded environment. Especially the openHAB server detection and site map selection is great! No typing just enjoy! May I ask for the following enhancement: - settings page should not be named as home menu, it should be named settings - settings page should not be the first page in the page hierarchy, as a user I expect the main menu of my selected site map there. Doing so I can hit the back button as often as I want - I would be taken to the main menu, not to settings - settings should be available by a settings icon on top right or bottom right screen edge wearing a gear icon - for the normal stable operation phase of an openHAB installation the visible reload of content should be as low as possible or in a way in the background so the user sees a stable interface not often the reload process Thank you very much! I payed for your great work by my own choice!
Would be nice to see a widget to quickly do things like select a scene.
openHAB is the way to go if you want to automate your home and want to integrate different brand of home intelligence devices. But you need to be patient, because it take some time to figure out how it works.
Any plans for Apple Watch companion app? It will be really useful feature.
I have it work with my home and office. This is not for beginners. You need to have a basic understanding of programming. It would be great if multi site option was available. Overall great app. Keep up the good work. Thank you
It now supports my.openHAB notification history and have a nice navigation drawer!

Some bad moments

Good luck ever getting this to work. Its the usual incompetent hack put together by FOSS types, and utterly uninterested in usability. You cant do anything in the app till you register at their web site. After poking around their for fifteen minutes youll eventually find what looks like a registration page except in addition to the usual email/password info it wants you to supply a "shared secret" and a "UUID" -- and good luck knowing what it expects either of those to be. Once you get past that hurdle, you can log in via the iOS app? Oh no. Apparently you now need to configure some URLs in the app. After making various guesses as to what these were, I was rewarded, on each attempt, with sme sort of failure message. At this point I gave up and concluded that life was really too short to deal with these people any longer.
Great application; openHAB is an amazing home automation software ecosystem. I wish it could switch more intelligently between local/remote instances. But oh well…
The icons update correctly now with this update. openHAB is GREAT for interfacing with Arduino using the MQTT protocol!! Note to the developer: It would be nice if the settings were embedded in the iOS settings app, under "openHAB", so that its hidden within the app. Also the whole screen scrolls to easily when trying to adjust a slider/dimmer. Great job on the app! Its awesome!
Works great, I use with insteon, z-wave, and modbus protocols.
